You will of course be aware of the Coronavirus outbreak. Please rest assured that we are constantly monitoring the situation and will continue to follow the advice and guidance from all relevant government agencies, including Health Protection Scotland, with regards to whether lessons should run or not. Safety is paramount and we must listen to the experts. At this moment in time we have received no recommendation from anyone to cancel lessons, indeed from what we can ascertain from the relevant bodies, swimming is one of the safest activities to participate in at this time due to the levels of chlorine in pools killing any virus that may exist. The “Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group”, in consultation with our Swimming governing body, and Public Health England, having recently stated so. They have however also reminded everyone “to shower before using the pool, to shower on leaving the pool, and to follow the necessary hygiene precautions when visiting public places to help reduce the risk of infection.” We do take this opportunity therefore to remind everyone to do this and follow good hygiene practice of washing hands thoroughly, and catching coughs and sneezes in a tissue before putting it in the bin. Of course, as with any illness, if you feel unwell please do not attend.
As a company we shall of course continue to monitor the situation closely, be guided by the experts, and act accordingly to ensure safety.
